Make a difference to age-related macular degeneration (AMD)May 7, 2013
“Macular degeneration can make it difficult or impossible to read or recognise faces. I used to worry constantly if my vision was getting worse, and would check every day for any signs of progression,” said Patricia, one of 500,000 Australians living with AMD. Patricia felt hopeless after she was diagnosed with the disease in 2011. Having worked as an ophthalmic nurse, she understood what lay ahead: a loss of central vision, along with her independence.
CERA’s world-first trial, using a nanosecond laser, may halt the progression of AMD. It’s an exciting development, and one that could change the lives of hundreds of thousands of Australians who have AMD.
But we need your support to find a cure. Your donation this tax time will allow our researchers to redouble their AMD research, moving even closer towards a cure to help more people like Patricia. Please, give now.
