Research Assistant

$50,191 - $68,109 per annum

East Melbourne Location

This new position has arisen from an industry funded research collaboration between CERA, Institute for Eye Research and School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of New South Wales. The two year project involves a case control study of contact lens related disease presenting to the eye casualty department at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for the day to day operations of the research study including;

  • Enrol and perform data/sample collection on contact lens wearers who present with eye conditions at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Casualty Department and control contact lens wearers in the community.
  • Perform online data entry with regular data audits, follow up on missing data, data queries and data analysis.
  • Liaise with contact lens practitioners in the community to confirm patient histories and liaise with laboratory staff to ensure follow up of sample analysis.

Along with outstanding communication skills, you will have the ability to work effectively and collaborate with a range of staff in medical, professional and administrative roles.

A relevant tertiary qualification in clinical or medical science, epidemiology or biological science coupled with an enthusiasm for research initiatives and delivering quality outcomes is essential.

Clinical Trials Assistant / Research Coordinator

$45,827 - $50,191 pro rata (FTE .80)

The Retinal Vascular Imaging Centre (RetVIC) Unit of CERA is a progressive and energetic team involved in the research of retinal vascular change, clinical trials in diabetic retinopathy and epidemiology. The primary focus of this position will be to;

  • Conduct clinical trials
  • Coordinate RetVIC grant applications and grant reporting
  • Coordinate HREC applications
  • Coordinate publication submissions for the RetVIC Unit
  • Complete reports for RetVIC projects

Along with outstanding organisational skills, you will have the ability to work autonomously. A relevant tertiary qualification coupled with an enthusiasm for research initiatives and delivering quality outcomes is essential.

National Program Manager
Lions Eye Health Program

$50,191 - $68,109 pro rata (.50 FTE)

The Population Health Unit within CERA is a progressive and energetic team involved in a number of ongoing research projects. CERA is the technical partner to the Lions Club of Australia for the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP). The primary focus of this position will be the implementation of a community-based awareness campaign which aims to eliminate avoidable vision loss due to common causes within the community. The role will work closely with the LEHP Management Committee, made up of Lions Club members from around Australia

Along with outstanding organisational skills, you will have the ability to work efficiently and accurately both autonomously and as part of a team. A relevant tertiary qualification in Public Health or Health Promotion coupled with an enthusiasm for training and presentation is essential.
