Ms Gerlinde Scholz

Gerlinde Scholz was appointed General Manager of the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) in January 2006. The role carries responsibility for all non-academic aspects of the Centre's business.

Her background is in institutional advancement - stakeholder management, communications and income generation - primarily in higher education. She was working as an independent consultant in 2004-05, specializing in capacity building projects for clients in the non-profit, government and education sectors.

Gerlinde Scholz built her career as a practitioner, manager and leader over 15 years in a range of external relations positions. The have been primarily with the University of Melbourne where she served among other appointments as the inaugural Director of Development (1999-2004) during a period when the organisation's philanthropic income more than doubled. She previously held appointments responsible for international market development, fundraising and alumni programs. Gerlinde has served on the executive committees of the Association of Development and Alumni Professionals in Education (ADAPE) both at state and national levels, including terms as Victorian President and as editor of the Association's national magazine.

Gerlinde hold Arts degrees from Melbourne and LaTrobe Universities. Originally from Germany, she has been living in Melbourne since 1984.
