Asia Pacific Research Accelerator (APRA) Second Generation Partners Inauguration and Training WorkshopSeptember 07, 2016
By September 2016, an additional eight hospitals in China joined the partnership with CERA as the second generation in the APRA program. All these eight hospitals are tertiary hospitals at the provincial level with high patient volume and a significant academic reputation across China. They are expecting to further strengthen their capacity of basic and clinical research through the cooperation with CERA in APRA. Leaders of the eight hospitals attended the Inauguration Workshop in September 2016 in Suzhou, China. Professor He and Dr Mueller from CERA welcomed their participation and granted the partnership certificates to each hospital. Leaders also introduced the hospital’s current research priorities and plans of future research, which is very important for the APRA team to work on the tailored action plan of collaborative research with each hospital.
Researchers from both first and second generation partner hospitals participated in training on how to conduct hospital service surveys, how to use existing data for research, and how to carry out multi-center studies. Professor He and Dr Andreas Mueller from CERA, Dr. Baixiang Xiao from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre of China and Professor Leon Ellwein from National Institute of Health, U.S. delivered the training, which helped the researchers get ready to conduct the seed research projects on the APRA clinical data system.
