Vision Screening Kits

The Centre for Eye Research Australia has developed a number of Vision Screening kits to be used for varying types of vision screening.  The kits have applications ranging from large scale screening programs to use in schools and community centres.  Please read the descriptions of each kit to help decide which kit would best suit your vision testing needs. WHO Low Vision Kit (WHO/PBL/95.48)

WHO kit

Purpose: Test/Screen for impaired vision and conduct an assessment of functional vision. (Can be used in conjunction with the Low Vision Training Manual)

Designed for use by:

  • Specialist teachers
  • Community based rehabilitation workers
  • Pre-school workers
  • Other healthcare workers

Contents:

  • Book 1 – Screening for Impaired Vision
  • Book 2 – Assessment of Functional Vision
  • Form –  Screening for Impaired Vision
  • Pinhole Mask
  • E Card Booklet (Near and Distance E Cards)

E-Card Vision Tests

  • Distance –  6/18, 6/60, 3/60
  • Near -  N8, N20, N48
  • (6/6 using near vision card at 6 meters)

Low Vision Training Manual

Purpose of Manual:

  • Provides activities for training
  • Provide information on the eye, vision conditions, eye care, education and rehabilitation
  • To be used in conjunction with the Low Vision Kit

  • Specialist teachers
  • Community based rehabilitation workers
  • Pre-school workers
  • Other healthcare workers

This kit is suitable to use with:

  • Older people of all abilities including those with speech, cognitive and motor impairments
  • People who are not fluent in English
  • People with advanced levels of dementia

CERA Vision Test

Purpose: Test/Screen for impaired vision

  • GPs
  • Health Professionals

Designed for use with:

  • All people of all abilities including those with speech, cognitive and motor impairments.
  • People who are not fluent in English.
  • People with advanced levels of dementia.
