Bequests
A bequest is a gift made through your will. It allows you to make a difference beyond your life time.
Leaving a bequest for eye research is a practical way to help save the gift of sight for future generations. A bequest can provide scholarships for students or fellowships for young researchers, help purchase equipment and fund laboratory and other research costs.
Subject to the wishes of a benefactor, bequests received by the Eye Research Australia Foundation are invested to preserve and grow their value. The income generated is used to support the work of the Centre for Eye Research Australia.

Types of gifts
A bequest may be a specific sum of money, a percentage of an estate, a particular asset such as property, shares, a work of art or a life insurance policy; or the residual of your estate after obligations have been met and distributions to other beneficiaries have been made.
Suggested wording for a Bequest
You may wish to consult your solicitor about the preparation of a will or amendment of an existing will to include a bequest for eye research.
The following form of words may be adapted depending on the type of bequest you wish to make:
"I give to the Eye Research Australia Foundation free of all duties [insert amount / percentage/ residual of my estate] and I declare that the receipt of its Treasurer or other proper officer shall be full and sufficient discharge to my Executors."
