Gerard Crock Fellowship

The Gerard Crock Fellowship Fund was established in 2003 to honour the memory and contribution of Professor Gerard Crock AO (1929-2007), Australia's first professor of ophthalmology.

Designed in consultation with Professor Crock, the Fellowship supports promising early career ophthalmologists, who have completed post-doctoral appointments overseas, to pursue research in Melbourne.

The Fellowship is an excellent opportunity for talented ophthalmologists to pursue vital eye research and to strengthen Melbourne's reputation as a leader in science and innovation.

The inaugural Gerard Crock Fellow, Dr Lyndell Lim, was appointed in 2006. She returned to Melbourne from a postdoctoral appointment in Portland, Oregon. Dr Lim's Fellowship appointment concluded in 2009 and she continues to conduct research at CERA.

In 2009, CERA announced the appointment of its second Gerard Crock Fellow, Dr Paul Connell.

The Gerard Crock Fellowship is achieving its goal of attracting talented clinician-scientists to Melbourne. The Fellowship is offered in conjunction with another generously endowed award.
