2012 Annual Review: Visionary

image-tools (98)Nanosecond lasers, bionic eyes and a mission to restore sight to the blind – 2012 was the year that science-fiction became reality at the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA).

You can read all about these major achievements and more in the CERA and University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology 2012 Annual Review, out now.

The Annual Review especially recognises the talent and dedication of our staff and students, and the continued generosity of our supporters and funders, who made these achievements possible by joining us in our fight to eliminate vision loss and blindness.

Managing Director Prof Jonathan Crowston and Chair Mr Peter Nankivell extended this message of thanks to the people who made 2012 such a memorable year:

“We want to thank our staff, students, alumni, volunteers and supporters for making CERA what it is today: a vibrant, energetic place; professional and dedicated to excellence; innovative by nature; welcoming and inclusive of our diverse community of researchers and the patients we serve.

It is a privilege to lead an organisation so rich with talent that is engaged in fundamentally important work, held in high regard by its community both locally and internationally and at the cusp of major new opportunities.”
