The Eye and Ear Hospital
The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (the Eye and Ear) is Australia’s only specialist stand-alone eye, ear, nose and throat hospital. The Eye and Ear is the largest public provider of ophthalmology and ENT services in Victoria and delivers more than half of Victoria’s public eye surgery and all of Victoria’s public cochlear implants. The majority of patients seen at the Eye and Ear are outpatients. Every year the Eye and Ear cares for over 250,000 patients, with more than 200,000 outpatients, 40,000 emergency patients and nearly 14,000 inpatients.

Eye Trial Research Network
We are building an Eye Trials Research Network of private ophthalmology sites to increase our geographic reach and the diversity/severity of diseases that we cover. Our network is starting in Melbourne but we intend to extend Australia-wide. Many of the ophthalmologists involved have already done research with the Clinical Trial Research Centre and therefore we have the benefit of open and trusting collaboration with our trial Study Coordinators and Investigators. The collaborating ophthalmologists with the network are keen to have our Clinical Trial Research Centre support the same high standards found in our Centre at their sites.
