Asia Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society (APTOS) Inaugural Symposium

The Asia Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society (APTOS) Inaugural Symposium and the first Council Meeting of APTOS were convened in Beijing on June 19, 2016. Prof Mingguang He and Dr Andreas Mueller attended and delivered speeches at the symposium. Representatives from National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, National Association of Health Industry and Enterprise Management of China, the China Health Promotion Foundation, Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmological Society of Taiwan participated as well. More than 500 ophthalmologists, ophthalmic researchers, professions and technicians across China and Asia Pacific countries attended the inaugural symposium. The APTOS was established as an association to promote the development of tele-ophthalmology in the Asia-Pacific region. It is expected that via APTOS, member ophthalmologists, IT professionals, eye care technicians, organisations and institutions will collaborate on the research, education and implementation of technology related to delivering eye care in the digital age.
