The Vision Cooperative Research Centre (Vision CRC) project aims to develop an affordable and innovative system that can deliver accurate and early detection of ocular diseases and simplify patient eye care journeys.
As one of the recruiting sites for the Vision CRC project, the clinical grading team will acquire retinal images from participants with varying levels of diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma and also from patients with no ocular disease, using the new Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHV) retinal camera and also with conventional retinal cameras.
The acquisition of these images will contribute to the main project aims of:
- The development of algorithms for automated detection (at the same visit) of the ocular condition.
- The comparison of agreement between diagnosis of different grades of diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular oedema and optic nerve head structure derived using the BHV retinal camera compared with other fundus cameras.
