It develops slowly over many years before it threatens sight\, often in ways that can be challenging and life-altering. \nThe key to saving sight is intervening early before vision is threatened. But how do you prove that you have slowed down disease progression \nProfessor Robyn Guymer is CERA’s Deputy Director and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Melbourne. She has led CERA’s Macular Research Unit since 1997 and is a world-leading authority on age-related macular degeneration. \nIn this free\, insightful lecture\, Professor Guymer will use AMD to illustrate the complexity around proving that an intervention is successful in slowing a chronic\, progressive disease – and the implications this poses for convincing regulators to approve emerging treatments. \n  \nBOOK YOUR ONLINE OR IN-PERSON TICKET \nDetails \n\nWednesday 4 June 2025\n5.30pm – 7.30pm AEST for in person (6.15pm – 7.30pm AEST for the livestream)\nMartin Family Auditorium\, Level 4\, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital\, 32 Gisborne St\, East Melbourne 3002\n\n  \nRegistrations are essential.
