Opthalmology at Melbourne turns 50 - come help us celebrate!

In 1963 Gerard Crock started as the foundation Ringland Anderson Professor at the University of Melbourne and created Australia's first specialist ophthalmology department. His successor Hugh Taylor established the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) some thirty years later to complement and build on the Department's strength. Together, the University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology and CERA have grown into a powerhouse for ophthalmology teaching, scholarship, innovation in patient care and into one of the top five research groups in the world today. Countless people living with eye diseases and vision loss are enjoying better lives because of the work we do.
