There is no doubt that Dr Alex Hewitt is a high-achiever. A talented, up-and-coming clinician-researcher, Dr Hewitt's impressive clinical work, academic achievements and community service were recognised in 2012 with a Western Australia Young Tall Poppy Award during his secondment to the Lions Eye Institute in Perth.
Make a difference to age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

“Macular degeneration can make it difficult or impossible to read or recognise faces. I used to worry constantly if my vision was getting worse, and would check every day for any signs of progression,” said Patricia, one of 500,000 Australians living with AMD.
CERA staff volunteer in Myanmar and Ethiopia

While most of us were enjoying lazy Summer holidays, three CERA staff members generously volunteered their time and expertise to help restore sight to hundreds of people in Myanmar and Ethiopia.
Lions are off and riding

The 2013 Lions Ride for Sight set off from Orbost on Wednesday and will arrive at HMAS Cerberus on the Mornington Peninsula on Sunday 21 April.
