World Glaucoma Week 2026
The ball’s in your court
Join Asher and donate to support research at CERA.
At CERA we know that preventing vision loss from glaucoma is all about saving a cell’s life – the cells in the eye that help turn light into information that are threatened in glaucoma.
Treatments to reduce pressure in the eye can help, but at CERA we know that there are better ways to rescue them and prevent vision loss for the approximately 300,000 Australians affected by the disease.
These are just waiting to be discovered with your help.

Saving our cells
Leading our new Neuroprotection and Repair Unit, Professor Pete Williams is focusing on new and innovative ways to power cells in the eye at risk from glaucoma to keep them alive and protect sight.
Professor Williams’ joint research was the first to show the potential of nicotinamide – a form of vitamin B3 – to supply extra energy to the retinal ganglion cells in the eye at risk of dying from glaucoma, to help them to survive.
Professor Williams has been a collaborator with us for many years, working closely with Dr Flora Hui who has been leading the work at CERA investigating the potential of vitamin B3.
Thank you for supporting sight-protecting research
From everyone at CERA, we are truly grateful for your support of research with real-life impact.
Every donation, whatever the size, brings our researchers closer to discoveries that increase the success of glaucoma treatments and help preserve sight for many Australians, like Asher.
Thank you for giving a boost to our research that supports people affected by vision loss and blindness.
