Dr Gink Yang is Research Fellow at CERA and leads the laboratory testing of the corneal anti-scarring factor and Hygelix products in cells and animals.

With a background in biomaterial development, tissue repair and stem cell biology, Dr Yang received his PhD on epidermal stem cell development, regeneration, and skin cancer in 2020. During his PhD candidature, Dr Yang took a stint as Biomaterials Specialist at Tekcyte, a world leader in the development of advanced coatings for biomedical applications. With an interest in pharmaceutical testing and validation, Dr Yang was trained under GMP clean room conditions and worked on several pre-clinical studies using various animal models.

With an Honorary Fellow position at University of Melbourne, Dr. Yang is available for supervision of Honours (Biomed and Biotech), Master of Biotechnology, Master of Philosophy and PhD programs.

  • Clinical investigation of microbial keratitis and corneal scarring
  • Exploring scRNA-seq as a clinical decision-making tool for Fuch’s Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy.
  • Validation of an anti-scarring factor for deep corneal stromal fibrosis.
  • Validation of Hygelix – an endothelial keratoplasty support device.
  • Building an immune-responsive 3D corneal stroma.
