Research Fellow

PhD, BSc(Hon)

Dr Sandy Hung is a Research Fellow in CERA’s Clinical Genetics team headed by Professor Alex Hewitt.

Dr Hung is a basic research scientist with a specialisation in molecular biology. Her current research interest is in developing improved gene delivery methods with the aim of providing better treatments for inherited retinal diseases (IRDs).

Dr Hung completed her PhD at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute and completed post-doctoral research in the US at the University of California, Irvine and the National Institute for Aging. On returning to Australia, Dr Hung joined CERA and tackled projects developing gene editing tools to treat IRDs, as well as using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to model and study IRDs.
